Why should I support? - FAQ - Terms & Conditions

1) Why should you support this racing effort? Don’t you have a ton of sponsors already?
The Green Envy (and KillaJoule) have a number of very supportive sponsors, but they are mostly in-kind sponsors. Expenses for shipping, truck rental, race trailer, tools, tires etc. usually come out of our own shallow pockets. With your support we can afford to both make the bike go faster and to go to more races. It is well-known that racing always has driven the development of new technology. Electric racing will help to get fun, high-performing, zero-emission electric cars on the road quicker and cheaper, and hopefully inspire kids to study science and engineering.
So, here is my pitch to get you excited:

Want to make history?
Want your name on the world's fastest (electric) motorcycle?
Want a super cool 3D printed scale model of the KillaJoule or Green Envy?
Want to join a team of these great Partners?
Want to inspire kids to study STEM?
If so, you are in the right place!

The Green Envy and the KillaJoule are being built to show that eco-friendly, low-emission technology is something to count on. And that electric vehicles can be insanely fast, and faster than internal combustion engines. They are also being built to inspire people to make things themselves, and to inspire kids to pursue a career in STEM. The main team behind these two uber-fast vehicles is me (Eva Hakansson) and my husband Bill Dubé. I have set 16 speed records, and Bill has lost count how many records he set with his now retired electric dragbike. But racing is expensive, and running my own startup business KiwiFil certainly isn't paying much yet. It is easy to see why that equation doesn't work out.

We need your help!
As a supporter of the Green Envy, you will be part of history! The planned debut for Green Envy was at the salt flats in Australia in March 2020. We raced the KillaJoule in Australia 2019, and learned a lot about the venue and the challenging logistics (and learned how incredible expensive it is!) We also tried out new, super-innovative wheels, and set an Australian record for electric motorcycles as 216.199 mph. We were all ready to make a big splash with a new record attempt, and then we all know what happened in March 2020.... We missed the record attempts in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, and in March 2022 the salt flats in Australia were flooded and racing was cancelled again. We are hoping that Bonneville 2022 could be an option, or we will be back in Australia 2023.

However, with three trips to Australia without being able to race a single time, our budget is running thin. Thus we need your help to continue!

There are support levels that will fit every wallet and piggy-bank, and every level comes with perks. And if you don't want any perks, there is a solution for that as well. If you just want to silently make history and make the world a better place, just opt-out of the perks, or select your desired amount of "Additional Karma" in the webstore.

2) Do I need a PayPal account to purchase from this store?
No, you are not required to have a PayPal account to purchase from this store. Although if you already have a PayPal account you may use it.
The store accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or regular account payments all through PayPal. If you want to use another form of payment (check, cash, wire transfer, bitcoin, etc.), please see the next question.

3) The webstore doesn’t work, what do I do?
If the webstore doesn’t work, or if you prefer to pay another way, here a few options:

- Send the appropriate amount directly to paypal [insert "at" here] evahakansson [dot] com and include a message with the support level and name(s) for the signed postcard and personalized perk(s) where applicable.

- If check is your preferred method, send me an email. We can most definitely figure it out.

- If you want to be a platinum level sponsor, or an in-kind sponsor of any sort, please email me directly at sponsorship [insert “at” here] evahakansson [dot] com.
If the webstore worked, but you didn’t manage to include a note specifying names for postcards or scale models, email us at merchandise [insert “at” here] evahakansson [dot] com.

4) Who is behind this effort?
The main team behind these two uber-fast vehicles is me (Eva Hakansson) and my husband Bill Dubé. I have set 16 speed records, and Bill has lost count how many records he set with his now retired electric dragbike. But racing is expensive, and running my own startup business KiwiFil certainly isn't paying much yet. It is easy to see why that equation doesn't work out.

That’s why we are raising funding for current and future record attempts through the webstore.
This webstore is certainly not lining our pockets. We can’t help ourselves, the racing effort takes all money we can spare (don’t ever think we make any money on the KillaJoule or Green Envy – it is just a big black hole in our wallet).

The KillaJoule was built on a shoestring budget in Bill Dube and Eva Hakansson's garage outside Denver, Colorado. Our entire annual budget is what a normal professional team spends on a weekend… Despite that, KillaJoule is the world’s fastest electric motorcycle at 270 mph (434 kph). In the same garage we built the now retired KillaCycle, which is still the world’s quickest electric motorcycle at 0-60 mph in less than one second. The Green Envy will be built in New Zealand, where I (Eva) work as a lecturer in mechanical engineering at the University of Auckland.
YOUR support will help make the Green Envy become reality, and help pay for tires, race trailer, shipping, etc. Or simply speaking – to make it possible to make history!
KillaJoule has already written history, and Green Envy will continue that with your support!
Flat out into the electric future and many thanks for your support!

5) How secure is this store?
This store uses PayPal for payments, and PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available). The seller can’t see your credit card number or other sensitive information. This store is indeed very secure.

6) Shipping and Delivery Time
Please allow us up to 4 weeks for delivery. All personalized scale models are made to order. We typically ship much quicker, but we are sometimes very busy working. We are racing after all… ;-)

7) What am I exactly buying? And can I return it?

Technically, you are purchasing advertisement space on the Green Envy for the current land speed racing season. You are not making a donation to a charitable purpose. The purchase may be tax deductible for a business, but will not be tax deductible for a private person (sorry). The legal seller of this advertisement space is either KillaCycle Racing Products LLC, Wheat Ridge, CO,  USA, which is owned by Eva Hakansson's husband Bill Dubé or KiwiFil Ltd., which is owned by Eva Hakansson and registered in New Zealand, depending on which country the order is placed from. Please contact us if you want an official tax invoice.

Although we are doing our very best to get the vehicles ready for racing, no guarantee can be made that we will be successful. We have been very successful in the past, but it could rain, I could get sick, the vehicle could be lost in the shipping. Or there could simply be a pandmic delaying us several years! Or as the old saying: Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. Sometimes it rains. We will do everything in our power to be successful, but if things don’t work out, sorry. No refunds. No complaints. Just a lot of tears…

However, if you accidentally purchased something, and then changed your mind, we’d be happy to send you a refund within 14 days.
